Infrastructure Minister Pedro Nuno Santos acknowledged that there had been a “communication error” between members of the government, leading to controversy over the publication and then cancellation of the order for new airports by the prime minister. António Costa and took “full responsibility” for the situation without resigning.

“I would like to acknowledge before my colleagues in the government, the prime minister and the president of the republic, that these failures had consequences for which I am punished,” he said and admitted that there was no “active search for consensus” since the publication of the order on the origin of the dispute .

Pedro Nuno Santos assured that the professional, friendly relations and work done with the prime minister were not tarnished by “this shortcoming”. “This is a bad time,” he said.

“We want to follow the prime minister’s goal, which is to reach a consensus, namely with the largest opposition party, on the location of the new airport,” he added, reiterating his responsibility in the whole situation.

The Prime Minister canceled this Thursday the Lisbon Airport Capacity Expansion Plan, published on Wednesday, regarding the construction of new airports, first at Montijo, for support, and then at Alcochet when he closes Humberto Delgado. Airport in Lisbon.

The order was published without the knowledge of António Costa and Marcelo Rebelo de Souza, President of the Republic, who have not yet commented on the matter.
