This Wednesday, ANA presidents heard on AR about the problems at airports.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Chairman of ANA are heard this Wednesday in Parliament at the request of the PSD to clarify the problems at the airports of Lisbon and Porto.

We are talking about the classification of the German website AirHelp, which is dedicated to the protection of air passengers and annually publishes a world ranking of airports, in which the airport. Humberto Delgado in Lisbon is ranked 132nd with an overall score of 5.76 out of 10, out of 132 airports ranked, that is, in last place.

Porto’s Sa Carneiro Airport ranks eighth with a total score of 6.46.

The parameters assessed are, among others, delays in departures and arrivals, quality of service, as well as retail and grocery premises.

“For a country that is highly dependent on tourism revenue and its image, this type of news is reputational damage due to reflections on tourism activities,” said the request submitted by the SDP parliamentary group, which it believes is “ pertinent to know the reason for such classifications and what is being done with them.”

In a statement, the PSD parliamentary group asked to be heard by the chairman of the board of directors of the airport management company, which is owned by the French group Vinci, José Luis Arnault, but an official source from ANA confirmed to Lusa that the chairman will also attend the commission’s chief executive, Thierry Ligonier.

The hearing is taking place at a time when several flights are canceled daily at European airports due to staff shortages, strikes and other aggravating external factors, namely weather related to covid-19 or unforeseen events.
