The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, unveiled this Wednesday a diploma approving a temporary mechanism to support the cost of extraordinary professional diesel fuel.
“The President of the Republic has promulgated the Decree of the Government, which approves the temporary mechanism for an extraordinary professional diesel engine,” reads a message posted on the President’s website.
The diploma in question also provides for the treasury operation needed to pay out this crisis support to farmers.
On June 30, the government approved an emergency support for professional diesel fuel for heavy vehicles at 17 cents per liter for two months with a total value of 18.5 million euros.
At a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting, Presidential Minister Marina Vieira da Silva announced that “a decree-law has been approved establishing a temporary support mechanism for extraordinary professional diesel fuel for the transport of heavy loads.”
