SEF and the House of Cascais sign an agreement to renew documents from the British

The Service for Foreigners and Borders (SEF) and the Chamber of Cascais signed a protocol this Wednesday to collect biometric data and update the documentation of British citizens benefiting from the Withdrawal Agreement from the European Union.

The SEF said in a statement that this cooperation protocol in the context of documentation is for British citizens who benefit from the Withdrawal Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom, which sets out the conditions for an orderly exit from that country.

The protocol aims to collect biometric data and update the documentation of British citizens and their relatives who are covered by the agreement, SEF reports, adding that about thirty thousand people have already registered on the Brexit portal.

In accordance with the protocol signed this Wednesday, the municipality of Cascais will provide the funds and human resources necessary for the maintenance and collection of biometric data.

The SEF should train the ward staff and provide the necessary IT support and structures for this process.

Covered UK citizens will be notified by the SEF to report to the ward premises for service.

“The certificate with a QR code, which can be downloaded from the Portal, remains the official document of residence in Portugal under the Withdrawal Agreement and is valid until the issuance of a new card, as well as valid documents of residence in the EU countries. also continue to be accepted for travel as long as it is within the validity period, until a new residence permit is issued,” clarifies SEF.
