PS says that the discussion between SDP and Chega looks like a “family fight”

The deputy general secretary of the PS considered this Wednesday that the vote of no confidence in Chega ao Governo represented “low politics” and said that the discussion between Andre Ventura’s party and the PSD looked like a “family fight”.

Speaking at the plenary session, João Torres stated that Chega’s no-confidence vote was “an irresponsible act, a diversion, a low-key, petty tactic, low politics.”

“In fact, this vote of no confidence is not aimed at overthrowing the government, but rather at defeating the largest opposition party,” he pointed out, referring to the SDP for the first time.

PS Deputy Secretary General then articulated André Ventura’s party initiative in “a right-wing leadership championship in full swing, between the no-confidence supporter and its founding party, today with new leadership from the worst archives of recent decades.”

“But let there be no illusions: the SDP and Chega may not meet today in the same voting order, but the discussion between them seems like a family struggle. The extreme right will not pass, the extreme right will not pass,” he said. said, raising his voice.

João Torres continued to pursue the SDP, believing that Chega’s vote of no confidence was “a test of the largest opposition party that had just left its congress”.

“The cosmetic episodes are announced, but everyone, young and old, remembers what they did in the last government,” he added.

Before João Torres, the socialist leader Porfirio Silva defended that “if the SDP had not been viewed as far right” he would have voted against Chega ao Governo’s vote of no confidence.

“This proposal is nothing but a stone that an extremist party is throwing at the SDP. The SDP did have strategic autonomy, I would not hesitate to vote against this ploy,” said Porfirio Silva.

Porfirio Silva, a member of the National Secretariat of the PSS, defended that “there are certain problems in the country that need to be solved”, acknowledging that despite “a lot” that his party has already done, he does not believe that “everything is done”. – and emphasized that the socialists intend to “continue the reformatory action.”

“But it would be useful to know whether the SDP will remain dependent on the Miguelist right, which since the days of D. Miguel has been a perfidious, violent, anti-democratic right, or whether it will look to the future. likes to talk about reforms, but when he sees that reform is passing him by, he does not recognize it, ”he criticized.

Porfirio Silva also addressed the political agendas of Chega 2019, which, according to the socialist MP, “indicated the disappearance of the National Health Service, the disappearance of the public school” and were “against the welfare state as a whole.” note that in the party program for 2021, where these measures disappeared, the party “hid this program and switched to cosmetics.”

“It is in this game of deception that this vote of no confidence occurs, which is really just a ploy,” he added.
