The ministers met this Thursday at an emergency meeting that began at 6:30 pm in Karnakseid, the civil defense headquarters.
According to the source of the minister, the meeting is connected with the chaos of fires in Portuguese territory.
Health Minister Marta Temido is late due to another meeting at Infarmed.
After the meeting, Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro announced that the country remains in a state of contingency until Sunday midnight and that any extension of this state will be reviewed that day.
“We understand that we had an obligation to maintain the same degree of responsibility, which means maintaining a state of emergency between the 16th and 17th,” José Luis Carneiro said at a press conference at the headquarters of the National Office for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection. (ANEPK).
The minister also added that on Sunday morning, after the ANEPC meeting to update the data and assess the state of affairs, which is due to start at 10:30, there will be a meeting of members of the government “to assess how much the level of contingencies should be maintained after Sunday or retreat into a state of combat readiness.”
