PCP wants public schools to have fewer students per class and 9th grade exams to be over.

The PKP proposed on Tuesday to reduce the number of students in the classroom, cancel the 9th grade exams and hire an appropriate number of psychologists for educational institutions, accusing the socialist government of not addressing the structural problems of public schools.

Speaking to Lusa news agency, PCP MP Diana Ferreira detailed the four legislative initiatives – three bills and a draft resolution – that the party entered parliament on Tuesday with “answers that need to be given in the face of the challenges currently facing public school, and given the approach of the next school year.”

“We are deeply concerned that the government continues to be reluctant to address issues that are structurally felt in public schools,” he criticized, pointing to the “lack of political will” in Executive Director António Costa, with an absolute majority, to address these issues. .
