The Lauterbach kidnapper who was prevented is said to have pursued bizarre coup plans

Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) was to be kidnapped as part of a coup d’etat – a man who was arrested in April is said to have confessed. According to a “Spiegel” report, he was pursuing bizarre plans for a coup.

A man arrested in April confessed to planning the kidnapping of Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) with a group of like-minded people. The news magazine reported on Friday, citing the man’s defense attorney, that a political coup should have followed.

It was planned to have a doppelganger of the Federal President, the Chancellor or another prominent politician appear – according to the report, to prepare the people for the change of government and to confirm the legitimacy of the coup.

Accordingly, after Lauterbach’s kidnapping, a “constitutive meeting to restore the German Reich’s ability to act” was to be held, as the news magazine quoted the confessor’s lawyer as saying.

According to the report, according to his defense attorney, the man planned to have the Minister of Health, Lauterbach, temporarily arrested by armed men and to announce an “arrest warrant” against him in front of the cameras.

Subsequently, several hundred Telegram contact persons should meet at a secret location to exchange the Basic Law for a modernized form of the Imperial Constitution of 1871 and to prepare a change of government. In addition, the population was to be cut off from media reporting by a nationwide power failure.

A suspect apparently wanted to buy Kalashnikov rifles

The federal prosecutor did not comment on this when asked. The man and three suspected comrades-in-arms have been in custody since mid-April. A little later, the Karlsruhe authorities took over the investigation. She considers the group to be a terrorist organization. The investigators accuse three of the men of having prepared a serious act of violence that is dangerous to the state. Two are said to have attempted to participate in a crime.

According to earlier information from the investigative authorities, the four Germans come from Neustadt an der Weinstrasse (Rhineland-Palatinate), Falkensee near Berlin and from the districts of Landshut (Bavaria) and Ammerland (Lower Saxony). According to “Spiegel”, the man who confessed is the man from the Berlin area. The federal prosecutor’s office is also investigating a fifth suspect, about whom no further information was given.

The motive of the confessor was a deep dissatisfaction with German politics, especially the corona measures, the magazine reported, citing his lawyer. Like the other suspects arrested at the same time, he is attributed to the Corona protest scene. One of them was arrested in Neustadt an der Weinstraße when trying to buy pistols and Kalashnikov rifles from an undercover investigator. One suspect was already hoarding weapons.
