Chancellor candidate of the Union: Video shows Laschet briefly without a mask in the snack bar

It is a federal election campaign and a sharp one at that. Even the smallest slip of the chancellor candidate is hung on the big bell. Armin Laschet allowed himself another one.

A video clip in which NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) initially enters a shop in Aachen without a mask has sparked debates on Twitter.

You can see the Union chancellor candidate entering the snack bar in his hometown without a face mask, standing in front of the counter, greeting two men with his fist in conformity with the corona and only then putting on the mask. The short sequence comes from an ARD documentary that was broadcast last Sunday for the federal election.

With the comment “I’m not a doctor, but don’t you put the mask on before you go to the store?” a user of the social media platform posted the excerpt. Shortly afterwards, the ARD film shows how the CDU boss is standing with the two gentlemen drinking a glass of schnapps.

On Twitter it said in the comments, among other things: “1 1/2 years #pandemic and not learned.” Another posted on the other hand: “My God, he’s vaccinated, the two wearing masks at some point are also good. You really don’t have to drive a pig through the village about everything. You can’t be serious that you’re angry that he puts on his mask 10 seconds too late. ”
