Mariama Barbosa was born in Guinea-Bissau in 1974 and came to Portugal at the age of five to study at a boarding school in Lisbon.

Returned to Portugal. She became interested in the fashion world from an early age under the influence of her mother and became one of the most important area indicators in the country. Prior to that, she sold sandwiches at a mall, worked as a hairdresser, went to the Lena Aires clothing store (in Bairro Alto), and at night worked as a concierge at the extinct Três Pastorinhos bar and Lux ​​nightclub in Lisbon. He was the assistant stylist to Dino Alves. He was a props designer for ModaLisboa and public relations for Showpress, a company that brings together several fashion designers and brands.

He had a fashion section on Oxigénio radio and presented the program Tesouras e Tesouros on SIC Caras, which he continued to record even after his diagnosis.

In an interview with Julia Pineiro in 2020, Mariama admitted that the first years in the area were not easy: “I was very hungry because I didn’t want to ask my parents for anything.”

“I have loved fashion since my early childhood, but I never thought I would become a TV presenter or publicist for ModaLisboa. I think the trick is to be humble and never put yourself in a position of superiority over others, no matter where we come from, ”said in an interview with the magazine faces in 2016.

In 2017 he edited the book “Só é Feio Quem Quer”. In his behind-the-scenes work, he has advised several public figures on image matters.
