US President Joe Biden has announced retaliation after the deadly attacks in the Afghan capital Kabul. Biden said he had directed U.S. forces to work out plans for attacks against the regional IS subsidiary, which is believed to be responsible for Thursday’s double attack in front of Kabul airport. At least 85 people were killed in the attack, including 13 US soldiers: “Those who carried out this attack, as well as everyone who wants to harm America, should know the following. We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you and make you pay. I will defend our interests and our people with all means at my disposal. ” It was the first time since February 2020 that US soldiers were killed in Afghanistan. Biden described them as heroes: “These American military personnel who sacrificed their lives – it’s an overused word, but it is perfectly appropriate here – were heroes. Heroes who embark on a dangerous, selfless mission to save the lives of others You are part of an airlift unprecedented in history. More than 100,000 American citizens, American partners, Afghans who have helped us and others have been brought to safety in the past 11 days. ” In his address, Biden also affirmed that the ongoing evacuation operation to rescue US citizens and Afghan local staff would be continued. The US would not be deterred by terrorists. The US wants to end the military operation by August 31 – next Tuesday – and by then to get as many people as possible out of the country.
