“Assuming all unemployed people to be lazy”: Katzian criticizes Kopf

At the moment, new suggestions are constantly being conjured up every few weeks, criticized Katzian on Friday evening in ORF’s “ZiB 2”. He therefore rejects the abolition of the possibility of additional income for the unemployed, which AMS boss Johannes Kopf brought into play in the OÖN interview. Here, of all people, those who have little anyway are hunted. That is degrading.

“It is assumed that all unemployed people are lazy, that they do not want to work,” criticizes Katzian. He points out that the rules that are already in force are strictly controlled and sanctioned anyway. Instead of constantly new proposals – from “degressive unemployment benefits” to the end of part-time jobs – an overall concept is needed.

In any case, there will be no reduction below the current level of unemployment benefits with the union, but: “If a degressive model starts high, you can discuss it.”
