Man saves family from flooded US home

A man rescued a family from a flooded home in eastern Kentucky.

The rescue was filmed by Randy Polley, who told CNN he recorded the moment on Thursday when he was trapped on a piece of land in front of the flooded house, Reuters quoted the news agency as saying.

Randy Polley reportedly called the emergency number (911) after hearing the family’s cry for help, and that’s when he saw the man swim up to the house and rescue him.

The three victims, a 98-year-old woman and two men, are safe and are in hospital.

Flooding due to heavy rains in eastern Kentucky has killed at least 30 people, including children, according to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. Local authorities are working to provide shelter and food for thousands of displaced people.
