Chancellor candidates in the Triell on RTL / ntv: This is the moderator team

In the TV trio on RTL and ntv, the chancellor candidates answer questions from two moderators: the well-known RTL face Peter Kloeppel and newcomer Pinar Atalay. How much experience do both of them have?

On the broadcasters RTL and ntv, the Chancellor candidates Armin Laschet (CDU / CSU), Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Annalena Baerbock (Greens) meet on this Sunday evening from 8.10 p.m.: Who can convince in a direct comparison, is quick-witted and offers the best solutions for the most pressing problems of our time? The Chancellor candidates will be interviewed by the moderation team Peter Kloeppel and Pinar Atalay.

Pinar Atalay was the presenter of the ARD news flagship “Tagesthemen” for many years; millions know her from TV. In the summer, RTL announced that the 43-year-old was switching to the private broadcaster family. The TV trio is her first serve in the RTL program. Atalay brings years of experience in interviewing top politicians. She told the German Press Agency: “I have spoken to Armin Laschet and Olaf Scholz often and for different formats. Ms. Baerbock and I have actually never met in person, this will be the first time in Triell.” It will be exciting to see how Atalay will harmonize with her moderation partner Peter Kloeppel.

Kloeppel has been RTL chief presenter since 1992

Kloeppel has been the news face of RTL for decades. The television journalist is anchorman of the news format “RTL aktuell” and has been the chief presenter since 1992. Unlike Atalay, the TV clash of the top candidates is not a premiere for Kloeppel. The 62-year-old has experience with chancellor candidate duels – an example: He was part of a team of four moderators in 2013 in the duel between Merkel and Steinbrück.

Kloeppel told the dpa about the triall: “Especially with a” three-way battle “between the candidates, we have to make sure that all three have a sufficient say and that we can work out the programmatic and personal differences between them clearly enough. And of course we want to achieve that Ms. Baerbock and Messrs. Scholz and Laschet get into an argument with each other. ” At the same time he said: “We do not want to and must not give up the threads.”
