volcano Fagradalsfjall Iceland erupted on Wednesday, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office.
The Icelandic Meteorological Institute has confirmed a volcanic eruption emanating from a fissure near the capital Reykjavik. The fissure, from which local media footage shows lava erupting, is located about 40 kilometers from Reykjavik, near Mount Fagradalsfjall, where the volcano erupted in 2021.
The eruption began near Fagradalsfjall, but the exact location has not yet been confirmed, the institute reports on the social network Twitter.
In April 2010, Iceland was hit by the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption, causing a widespread shutdown of European air transport, affecting thousands of flights and causing a kind of domino effect around the world.
