The President of the Republic considered this Thursday that the Prime Minister’s order to pay Endesa’s bills earlier in the week was politically intended to show surprise at the behavior of this company.
“I see that government intervention has been interpreted as an imposition of ERSE [Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos]or the conflict with the oil company… Which had an unexpected intervention in the existing context,” replied Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, asked on the sidelines of a visit to the World Youth Day venues, between Lisbon and Loures, next year.
However, the head of state said that he had a “different interpretation” of António Costa’s order.
