dr Johannes Nießen heads the Cologne health department. In the interview, the doctor explains why some unvaccinated doctors can continue to work and how he feels about the abolition of facility-related vaccination requirements.
Mr. Nießen, can you rule out the possibility of unvaccinated doctors or nurses going to work in Cologne?
No, I can not do that.
You have to explain that.
As of now, 3594 unvaccinated people from 372 facilities have been reported to us in Cologne. In more than half of the cases, we were already able to complete the exam. Those affected submitted proof of vaccination or recovery later, or the employer’s doubts about the authenticity of the certificates could be dispelled. We are currently processing the remaining responses. During this time, the unvaccinated people can theoretically still work.
