The President of the Republic said this Friday that nothing is more important than establishing the truth, pointing out the need for investigations into sexual abuse of minors by priests.
“It is necessary to bring the investigation to the end, take the time it takes, regardless of the number of cases that are, and then draw conclusions. I think that the Portuguese community and various institutions, including in the case of the Catholic Church, should draw conclusions from this procedure of the past,” said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
At the end of the opening ceremony of the 630th edition of the Feira de São Mateus, which will take place in the city of Viseu until September 21, the President of the Republic stressed to journalists that nothing is more important for institutions than the truth.
