In the evening, Kurz was awarded the “Ludwig Erhard commemorative gold medal” by the CDU Economic Council. The Economic Council of the CDU is an association founded in 1963 which, according to its own statements, represents the interests of the corporate economy vis-à-vis politics, administration and the public.
The “commemorative coin Ludwig Erhard in gold” is named after the CDU politician and longstanding West German Minister of Economic Affairs Ludwig Erhard (1897–1977), who is considered the “father of the German economic miracle” after the Second World War.
In 2005 Austria’s then Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel (VP) was awarded the commemorative coin.
