The Educational and Rehabilitation Cooperative for More Inclusive Citizens (CERCI) Braga acknowledged on Tuesday that it may have to close two empowerment and inclusion residences that house 10 adults with intellectual disabilities.
In a statement sent to Lusa, CERCI notes that it is making “every effort to maintain a response and protect the interests and well-being of customers.”
He also says he is waiting for Social Security to confirm a date for the formalization of a cooperation agreement that will make the continuity of these residences viable.
“In October 2021, all the necessary documentation for the contract was formally submitted, residences are licensed in due course, and applications for the PARES 3.0 program were approved in February 2022, so we do not know what makes it impossible to unlock this situation,” he adds.
He emphasizes that what is at stake is an “inadequate response” in the municipality of Braga “of an urgent nature, where the majority of people who are deprived of any support from the family are integrated.”
The board of directors of CERCI Braga hereby confirms the information published on Tuesday in the media, which refers to the possibility of closing two residences for autonomy and inclusion, in which 10 adults with intellectual disabilities are integrated. This is an inadequate response in our municipality, it is urgent, where mostly people integrate without any family support.
Lusa contacted the Institute for Social Security (ISS), who said that on July 12, 2022, CERCI Braga formalized with Social Security, as part of the PARES 3.0 application, two financial contribution agreements for public funding of these responses. in the approximate amount of 220 thousand euros.
ISS also reports that CERCI Braga “does not have a cooperation agreement with Social Security regarding social response residential buildings for autonomization and inclusiveness.”
“This organization has applied to the Social Security Service for an exemption from the application procedure to PROCOOP for the conclusion of a cooperation agreement for the social responses of autonomization and inclusive residences, a process that is being analyzed in accordance with Decree No. 77/2022 of 03 February, which establishes updating the rules for the conditions for the installation, organization and reception of Residences of autonomization and inclusiveness,” he concludes.
