Public transport: Greens call for a concrete plan for the 9-euro ticket successor

From September there will no longer be a 9-euro ticket – so far the traffic light government has not decided on a connection solution. The Greens are now demanding speed from the FDP Minister of Transport, Volker Wissing.

In the struggle for a successor regulation to the 9-euro ticket, the Greens traffic expert Stefan Gelbhaar demands clear statements from Transport Minister Volker Wissing. It is now up to the FDP politician “to enforce a follow-up solution and the necessary funds, especially with the finance minister,” said the member of the Bundestag of the “Bild am Sonntag”. The Ministry of Transport should give a “concrete timetable for a simple and cheap ticket model” by September 1st. The 9-euro ticket expires at the end of the month.

Wissing himself told the newspaper that an expansion and modernization pact should be drawn up and approved by the transport ministers’ conference in the fall. “This gives us the opportunity to make public transport much more convenient and attractive for all citizens.” The next conference of transport ministers is in mid-October.
