The crossing of the river that connects Casillas, Seixal and Montijo with the city of Lisbon is only possible from 11:00 am from Wednesday to Friday due to a partial strike of Transtejo workers, which affects peak hours.
On Tuesday, the crossing between the two banks started at 10:00 in the case of Seixal, Casillas and Montijo and at 9:30 in the case of the Trafaria-Belem line. From Wednesday, the first morning boats will depart from 11:00 on flights from Seixal, Casillas, Montijo and Lisbon.
Between the 8th and 12th, and the 16th and 19th of this month, workers go on a partial strike every shift, leading to career suppression during periods of greater activity.
According to the Federation of Transport and Telecommunications Trade Unions (Fectrans), workers go on partial strikes every shift, “due to the fact that the administration/government did not start an effective negotiation process to discuss the union’s claims, which, in addition to wage increases, includes improving public service”.
As a rule, river connections between the two banks start at 06:10 on Seixal, at 05:20 on Casillas, at 06:00 on Montijo and at 06:42 on Trafaria.
Due to the strike, which has been taking place on weekdays since August 8, all routes at the beginning of traffic and even during peak hours in the afternoon were closed, and stations are closed during this period for security reasons, the company said. .
Carlos Costa, director of Fectrans, explained in statements to the Lusa agency that the strike takes place in the first three hours of the morning shift and in the afternoon three hours per shift, and that minimum services are not decreed, so there is no legal imposition that they were done.
According to the union structure, “the solution to the problems in this and other state-owned companies is a political choice between the necessary investment to add value and retain workers, or respond to the demands of economic/financial groups at the expense of workers and the public service.”
Fectrans is advocating that “the labor conflict only arises because the administration/government chooses to remain silent and ignore the protests of workers and users.”
The company, for its part, posted on its website information about service outages from August 16 to 19, caused by a partial strike and an overtime strike organized by trade union organizations representing workers.
In the notices, the carrier indicates the routes planned for each of the connections between the two coasts, that is, between Lisbon and Casillas, Seixal, Montijo and Trafaria.
Transtecho adds that the realization of a career depends on whether he joins the strike.
Transtejo is responsible for connecting Seixal, Montijo, Cacilhas and Trafaria/Porto Brandão to Lisbon, while Soflusa handles the connection between Barreiro and Terreiro do Paço in Lisbon, which is the only connection without foreseen restrictions.
