FP: “Famann poses a danger to schoolchildren”

More important to the minister than the educational orientation is to put pressure on the teaching staff when vaccinating, said the liberal education spokesman Hermann Brckl on Thursday in a press conference. Famann thus represents a “danger” for schoolchildren.

Brckl called the Ministry of Education’s approach “immoral and extortionate”. For Famann, it is only important to increase the pressure on educators so that they can be vaccinated. On the other hand, students are being neglected, as not only would they have been poorly educated, but would also have suffered psychologically and physically from the crisis and the lockdowns, as several studies have shown.

Brckl therefore calls on the minister to take measures “that deal with education and not just with vaccination and testing”. For example, classes in the core subjects should be divided for two years in order to be able to make up for educational losses. The FP education spokesman also suggested holding block events in the afternoons at the beginning of the semester and eliminating the pre-academic work.

Regine Stangl, federal chairwoman of the Freedom Teachers Association, underpinned the allegations that the pressure on teaching staff is increasing. In Krnten, for example, a teacher in Krnten who refused to wear a mask was fired. On the part of the students, a large number of cancellations can be expected for the coming semester, and the number of school dropouts is likely to have risen sharply. Stangl: “We simply cannot accept that as a society.”
