Pandemic: Relaxed corona entry rules are to be extended

Holiday returnees and other travelers aged twelve and over no longer have to have 3G proof of being vaccinated, recovered or tested since May. The current regulation only runs until the end of August.

The relaxed corona rules for those returning from vacation when entering Germany are to remain largely in place beyond the end of the month.

The Federal Ministry of Health is working on an extension of the corresponding regulation, as a spokesman announced on Wednesday in Berlin. There would be no major changes compared to the status quo.

The requirements for entry had been relaxed in view of the more relaxed pandemic situation before the summer holiday season. Since the end of May, those returning from vacation and other people entering the country from the age of twelve no longer have to have 3G proof of being vaccinated, recovered or tested. The current regulation only runs until August 31st.

Basically as an “emergency brake”, however, stricter rules for areas in which new variants of the corona virus are circulating remained. Travelers from there have to go into a 14-day quarantine in Germany, even if they are vaccinated or have recovered. However, there is currently no country on the corresponding list of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) that has been classified by the federal government as a virus variant area.
