Ukraine’s president warned on Saturday that next week, when the country celebrates Independence Day on August 24, Russia might try to do something “particularly cruel.”
“[A próxima semana] it is very important for all of us, for our country. The day of our flag, our Independence Day is ahead. Commemoration of the veterans of the war for the freedom of Ukraine is ahead,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his regular evening speech, which was reported by the official media.
However, he warned: “We must be aware that this week Russia may try to do something especially nasty, something especially cruel,” while noting that it will be “like every other week during these six months, Russia always did the same: disgusting and cruel.”
