“A cluster of homeland love”: Blue all round in Wels

Federal party leader Herbert Kickl made an all-round blow against political competition. Lead candidate LHStv. Manfred Haimbuchner demanded that all subsidies in the country, for which this was legally possible, be linked to knowledge of the German language and a “zero asylum seeker quota from Afghanistan”.

The blues have to reckon with a minus on September 26th – after doubling the share of the vote to 30.4 percent in 2015 – but want to achieve 20 percent plus and stay second. Accordingly, when staging the “Freedom Tour”, one reaches into everything: fog, fireworks, image videos on a cinema screen – there was a mood like at classic FPÖ tent festival events, red-white-red flags adorned the tables, it gave beer and schnitzel rolls. The 3G certificate was checked at the entrance, but mask wearers could count on one hand.

“Freedom tour against robber baronism”

“This is a cluster that we are forming here,” said federal party leader and club chairman Herbert Kickl at the beginning of his speech, “a cluster of love for home, patriotism, common sense”. The “freedom tour” turns against the current “major attack on basic and civil liberties” and the “robber barons” of the state.

Freedom politics “is quality work for the population”, the freedom people are “not a collection of fictional characters who all have the same chip implanted”, the blue club boss settled with his ex-government partner ÖVP. It “bothered them that we did not put our heads under the yoke of message control” and that there was no “sado-maso show” with the FPÖ as with the Greens.

(Side) blows at the competition

Kickl believes that “the birds of the dead have already landed” at the SPÖ. “I skip the Neos, you can not do that”, he said amid the laughter of the audience, the Green Vice Chancellor wears “the Olympic rings under his eyes all year round”. ÖVP club boss August Wöginger goes “with the bricklayer (club chairwoman Sigrid, note) like the Almdudler couple” through the country, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer announces an asylum ban – “and in truth we have record numbers”. Overall, “there is no mess and no construction site in Austria where the ÖVP is not involved”.

Kickl held back a little on the corona issue. However, he emphasized that no one would be able to make him feel guilty if he criticized Corona measures or because he was not vaccinated. Haimbuchner spoke right at the beginning of his “life-threatening” corona infection in spring. The pandemic was mastered by doctors, carers and families, “not politics, not the federal government and not the health minister,” whose management is “a disaster”. “I was lying at home bathed in sweat and was checked by the executive to see if I was home anyway,” he said. “I would like every criminal residing in Austria to be monitored in the same way as corona sufferers”.

Compulsory German and reasonable retraining

He praised the free government work in Upper Austria, such as the compulsory German for an apartment or the reform of social welfare. “We have saved over 12 million euros on foreigners unwilling to integrate”, and the money is now being spent on the “local population”. Once again he insisted on the “compulsory German” in school. But also all state subsidies would have to be linked to German language skills “where this is legally possible”.

He also called for “sensible” retraining in the fight against unemployment, “not the” 370. Computer course “, as well as a daily gym class in schools, because even the playgrounds were closed during the pandemic. The middle class should not be further exploited under the guise of climate protection.” Haimbuchner called on his supporters to vote and is already locating ideas on how to “prevent critical citizens from voting” under the guise of the pandemic.
