Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (48) suffers from a fear of flying. Every flight is a “huge effort” for her, the SPD politician admitted in the ZDF “Morgenmagazin”. “Of course I do it because sometimes there is no other way,” said Schwesig. But she has great respect for what fighter jet pilots do.
Schwesig was interviewed at Rostock-Laage Air Force Base. She also commented on the 100 billion euro program for better equipment for the Bundeswehr, which was decided in June. Schwesig said she thinks the special fund is the right thing to do to improve the equipment for the soldiers and also to modernize the air force.
