Are there any differences between the major parties? The argument with Juso boss Jessica Rosenthal and CSU veteran Peter Gauweiler shows: Yes, many – but also surprising similarities.
GAUWEILER (starts immediately without being asked): I knew a few of your predecessors.
ROSENTHAL: Who do you particularly remember?
GAUWEILER: Schroeder, of course. And the red Heidi. Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul.
ROSENTHAL: She is still a great role model for all Jusos.
GAUWEILER: All unforgettable. When I was a student, I was a consultant for special tasks and attended Juso congresses for the CSU state leadership.
ROSENTHAL: The Jusos were a special task?
GAUWEILER: Not only. I even went to the World Youth Festival in East Berlin. Franz Josef Strauss had forbidden the JU to drive there. I was the only one who took part with his consent because I was ideologically stable.
