The fire that broke out on Tuesday in Valpazos, Vila Real district, re-opened this Wednesday, with 177 operational personnel and four air assets deployed so far, a source from the National Emergency Management and Civil Protection (ANEPC) told Lusa.
According to the source, the fire went into the stage of liquidation on Tuesday evening, but this Wednesday, at 15:45, it resumed “in the same place and on the same line of fire.”
He stressed that with an active front, the fire consumes the territory of the shrub-pine forest and is located in a hard-to-reach zone, which forced the increase in operational personnel on the ground.
The increase, now to 177, aims to fight the flames manually with the support of four air assets.
Despite the size of the fire, there is no danger at home, he grimaced.
According to the ANEPC page, 177 operatives are involved in the fire in the city of Valverde in Valpasos, supported by 47 vehicles and four air vehicles.
