Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro categorized this Friday as “increasingly serious” and “complicated” bushfires in Portugal, leaving the word “tribute and solidarity” to civil protection agents.
“The word of tribute, solidarity, support to the forces and services that make up the national civil protection system should be said by everyone,” he said.
The Minister of the Interior, who spoke in Portalegre during the awards ceremony for 291 new soldiers of the 47th PPR Guards Training Course, also expressed solidarity and support to the mayors and communities affected by the forest fires.
“Countrywide [autarcas e comunidades] faced and faced with these increasingly demanding and complex wildfire challenges for us in Portugal, as well as for the countries of the European Union as a whole,” he said.
During the speech, José Luis Carneiro praised the role of GNR and firefighters in firefighting, emphasizing that they are “doing their best” to protect and protect ecological heritage, biodiversity and human lives.
The 47th Guards training course in Portalegre lasted about eight months, during which various subjects were taught, both in general military training and in legal and vocational areas.
The training also included a practical aspect (on-the-job training) to equip the temporary guards with the skills to perform the functions of the PLR.
