USA: US President Biden explains how secret documents are handled

In the course of the FBI raid on ex-President Donald Trump, Joe Biden is now also commenting indirectly on the subject.

After the release of new details about the FBI investigation into his predecessor Donald Trump, US President Joe Biden commented on his own handling of classified documents. “I have a separate room at home that is completely secure,” Biden said on Friday after a journalist’s question. “I’m taking today’s PDB (President’s Daily Brief) home with me. It’s locked, I have one person with me, the military, and I read it. Then I lock it again and give him back.”

The top secret report contains the most important current findings of the US secret services every day. It is recreated every morning and given to the President. When asked if it was appropriate to take classified papers home, Biden said it depends on the type of documents.

The White House kept a low profile on the partially published procedural document in the investigation against Trump. “This is an independent investigation led by the Justice Department. The President believes it is important for the Justice Department to maintain this independence,” spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said. Trump is accused of storing secret papers from his time as president in his Mar-a-Lago mansion after leaving the White House.
