Stop wants to toughen punishment for sex crimes

Chega will introduce a bill to the Assembly of the Republic that will toughen criminal liability for sexual offenses and introduce an additional sanction in the form of chemical castration in case of recidivism.

According to the document, which the CM had access to, in addition to increasing the punishment for rape cases, which can be up to 12 years in prison, an additional sanction of chemical castration is applied in cases where the crime is committed “in the context of special perversion or censorship” – extreme violence, gang rape, either against a defenseless person due to illness or disability, or when the aggressor is the parent or adoptive parent of the victim.

According to André Ventura’s party bill, “chemical castration is understood to be a temporary form of castration, supported by the administration of hormonal and libido-suppressing drugs, administered in a duly authorized and accredited medical facility.” The term for chemical castration will be determined by the court.
