Juventude Popular (JP) posted a poster this Thursday outside the Festa do Avante! to criticize the PKP’s position on the conflict in Ukraine, believing that for the communists “there is no war like this”.
According to a statement sent to the Lusa agency with photographs of a poster whose graphics and colors are similar to the official Festa do Avante!Seixal, next to the communist ‘rentrée’.
This is not the first time that party structures have placed posters near the Communist Party, as in 2020 and at the height of the pandemic, the JSD and JP used this medium to criticize the conduct of the event, which was then shrouded in controversy. due to the pandemic context caused by covid-19.
According to JP, “those who go and agree with the festival ignore and forget about the war that has been going on in Ukraine since February”, criticizing the PKP’s position on this issue.
An adaptation of the Avante! “There is no such party!”, emphasizes the party structure with the poster “There is no such war for the PKP!”.
“Kharkiv, Bucha, Odessa and Mariupol are the “headliners”, while examples such as torture, bombing of civilian objects, destruction of cultural heritage, massacres and sexual crimes are the “minor artists” of this “festival” of youth from the CDS. – PP. So far, there is no shortage of references to journalists and other figures who were brutally murdered,” the Center Youth describes in the same statement.
JP President Francisco Camacho says that “if the PKP continues to treat the war relativistically without denouncing the Russian invasion,” the centrists are “seeking to keep the consequences of this right on the doorstep.”
“Russian citizens live in a digital dictatorship, so we understand that they are not aware that there is a war going on, full of dead, broken families, destroyed cities. But in Portugal we live in a democracy and in an age of digital literacy: there is no reason to walk around with your eyes closed, not knowing what is happening in Ukraine,” he emphasizes.
In 2020, party youth opposed the implementation, JSD posted a poster near the venue, which was taken down and then replaced, and JP even asked to inspect the venue.
