Liz Truss vows to act immediately in the face of UK price hikes

Downing Street favorite for Boris Johnson’s seat, Liz Truss, vowed this Sunday to act immediately in the face of the cost of living crisis in the United Kingdom, but declined to detail measures ahead of the announcement of the results.

“I will act if I am elected Prime Minister. I will act immediately on bills and energy supply because I think it goes hand in hand,” said Liz Truss. BBC.

The 47-year-old British diplomat is the favorite to succeed Boris Johnson, who was forced to step down in early July after months of row.

If elected, Liz Truss will face a tense economic and social environment, with inflation exceeding 10% and huge increases in energy prices affecting families, schools, hospitals and businesses.

However, he declined to explain the specific nature of the measures he intends to take.

“It will take a week to agree on exact plans and make sure we can announce them. That is why I cannot go into details at this stage,” he explained.

He also stressed that he would present “within a month” a draft tax reform to overcome the crisis.

After three months of campaigning, about 200,000 members of the Conservative Party will choose Boris Johnson’s successor.
