Annalena Baerbock: Portrait of the Greens’ candidate for chancellor

After joining the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party in 2005, Annalena Baerbock rose quickly. Now the 40-year-old wants to become the first green chancellor in Baerbock. And in order to reduce poverty in Germany, she is in favor of basic child security. She is against the statutory debt brake. Baerbock also strives for an “active immigration policy”.
She was born on December 15, 1980 in Hanover as the daughter of an engineer and a teacher. She is married, has two daughters and lives in Potsdam.
She passed her high school diploma in 2000. Until 2004 she studied politics at the University of Hamburg and graduated with an intermediate diploma. She then completed a master’s degree in London.
From 2009 to 2013 she was a doctoral candidate in Berlin. However, she did not complete her doctorate.
From 2009 to 2014 she was party leader in Brandenburg. She has been a member of the Bundestag since 2013. She won the federal chairmanship of the Greens, together with Robert Habeck, in 2018.
