The President of the JSD defended this Sunday a top IRS rate of 15% for taxpayers under 35 and free public transportation for young people from across the country to graduate.
At the closing session of the 18th PSD Summer University, which took place in Castelo de Vide (Portalegre), deputy Alexandre Pozo also accused António Costa of being “disillusioned with the future” of Portugal.
“He sacrifices new generations, he disrupts the national political situation. António Costa sometimes even seems to be the prime minister of our country,” he criticized.
The JSD leader noted that Portuguese young people are later leaving their parents’ homes across the European Union, young graduates’ salaries have fallen by 15% and that 86% of young people in Portugal earn less than 1,159 euros per year. month.
For Alexandre Posu, these data “are proof of the collapse of socialism in Portugal.”
The President of the JSD stated that “action and courage” is needed to create a tax regime that can “positively discriminate against youth, keep talent in Portugal and provide more disposable income to those who are just starting out in life.”
The JSD proposal assumes that this “tax shock” for young people applies to all young people under the age of 35, except for those with income at the last pillar of the IRS.
“This is a priority for the JSD for the future because young people don’t want to be taxed,” he said, turning to the prime minister “or whoever commands the government” to accept the offer.
Alexandre Pozo also called on the PS government to look at the “good examples of Lisbon and Cascais”, the municipalities led by the Social Democrats Carlos Moedas and Carlos Carreiras, and to replicate nationally the guarantees of free public transport for all young people until the completion of higher education.
“The prime minister cannot be afraid to copy good examples, for being late, being reactive in presenting measures,” he urged.
The MP also greeted the President of the SDP, saying that Luis Montenegro “SDP is back.”
Earlier, the Director of the Universidade de Verão, former MEP Carlos Coelho thanked the PSD President for the “time and effort” he devoted to participating in this initiative and the priority he promised to give in his leadership to learning.
“We need you to lead the PSD in clear opposition to this government so that at the future Summer University we welcome your presence as Prime Minister of Portugal,” he wished.
