Is he the man who can overthrow Erdoğan? Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, 73, wants to win Turkey’s highest office. For a long time he was underestimated, insulted and attacked. In an interview with star he talks about the plight of the Turks, the responsibility of the EU and why he stopped paying his electricity bills.
Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu, you are considered a humble character. It is therefore often said that they would lack the aggressiveness to be dangerous to a man like Erdoğan. Does that actually bother you?
I am a man of the people. That’s why I live like this. Erdoğan has forgotten the people he once belonged to. He has turned into an autocrat and is no longer interested in the problems of the Turks. Someone who rules with a stick in hand and intimidates the people will never be able to do anything good for society. One must not lead a country with fear, oppression and violence.
