This Thursday, the government approved a decree-law establishing the executive leadership of the National Health Service (NHS), as provided for in the NHS statute, and aimed at strengthening the role of operational coordination of the health care response.
“The executive leadership of the SNS aims to respond to what has proved to be an important role in the fight against the pandemic, the need for better operational coordination of the relief response,” the Minister of Health said at a press conference at the end of the Council of Ministers.
Outgoing Martha Temido explained that the creation of the executive board “is the culmination of a process that began with the approval of a new Health Fundamentals Act in 2019, which was put on hold due to the need to respond to the pandemic. . [de covid-19] and continued most recently with the approval of a new SNS charter.”
