Between 2014 and 2016, Luis Carrillo led the UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic after the country plunged into civil war following a coup d’état in 2013. He has previously performed similar roles in Haiti, Timor-Leste, Bosnia and other countries. In Portugal, in addition to several functions, he was the commander of the PSP personal security corps.
