Portuguese international Otavio suffered a rib injury this Wednesday during FC Porto’s 1-2 loss to Spaniards Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League Group B debut, billed as “dragons”.
“The midfielder was injured during the second part of the European round at the home of Atlético de Madrid and has already gone to the hospital to undergo an injury examination,” the national champions emphasized in a note published on the official website.
Otavio, 27, was replaced by Bruno Costa in the 77th minute after Mario Hermoso was hit in the back with a left knee and was immobilized by a neck brace before leaving the field of Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium on a stretcher.
Porto lost 2-1 away to Atlético de Madrid today in their Champions League Group B debut, with three of the duel’s goals scored in stoppage time.
The team led by Sergio Conceicao was reduced to 10 points from the 81st minute, despite the sending off of the Iranian Mehdi Taremi, but they still saved Mario Hermoso’s goal with a score of 90 + 1 thanks to a penalty scored by the Colombian. Matheus Uribe with a score of 90 + 6 in front of the Frenchman Antoine Griezmann with a score of 90 + 11 secured the victory for the Spaniards.
Atlético de Madrid and Belgian Brugge, who simultaneously beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0, share the lead in the pool, both with three points, while Porto won the competition in 1986/87 and 2003/04, while the German club is at zero.
