A raid on Wednesday in three federal states because of the formation of an armed right-wing extremist group was also directed against Bundeswehr reservists. A spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, said on Friday. Accordingly, the addresses of four reservists were searched in the large-scale operation. There were seven searches in total.
According to the spokesman, the case is about the suspicion of the formation of a “right-wing extremist military sports group”. The spokesman said the accused were accused of joining the group or of having commanded it.
Nine accused of military sports group
The Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior reported on the investigation and the searches on Thursday. Accordingly, the suspicion is directed against a total of nine accused. They allegedly formed an armed group with a right-wing extremist background and had access to firearms. Almost 200 police officers were on duty and had confiscated “objects of relevance to evidence”.
The investigation is conducted by the public prosecutor’s office in Lüneburg; the authorities did not provide any more detailed information on the locations of the search measures or the suspects. The unauthorized formation of an armed group is prohibited in Germany. According to the Criminal Code, there is a risk of a fine or up to two years in prison.
