In the ZDF program “Klartext”, CDU chancellor candidate Armin Laschet answered questions from some citizens on Thursday evening. On the television screens at home, some viewers not only listened carefully to his answers, but also watched attentively. They noticed a button in Laschet’s ear – even if the device was barely recognizable on television.

ZDF explains: Laschet had no radio contact with the team
The broadcaster delivered the harmless explanation via Twitter: The button in Laschet’s ear is a “device for amplifying the sound so that it can, for example, clearly understand the video clips”: “It cannot be radioed through this amplifier.” The ZDF also emphasized that the button was “absolute standard”. So the mistrust was unfounded.
In terms of content, Laschet could hardly score in the show. The CDU chairman appeared cautious and withdrawn. It seemed as if the long, exhausting election campaign had left its mark on him. A statement by Laschet on marriage caused a stir for everyone on the ZDF program.
