Ivan Peshorin was the managing director of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (ERDC) and thus the head of mineral development in the Arctic regions of Russia. Just days before his death, Pechorin took part in the Eastern Economic Forum hosted by President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok.

The 39-year-old is said to have fallen overboard while traveling with friends on his private yacht off Russky Island. After a long search, his body was recovered from the water on Monday. “Ivan’s death is an irreparable loss to friends and colleagues, a great loss to the company,” ERDC said in a statement released.
Since the beginning of the year there have been a series of mysterious deaths of top business people. The cases have been classified as either suicide or accidents, as “Daily Mail” reported. Most recently, the Russian oil manager, Ravil Maganov, died when he fell out of the window. The incident apparently happened in a Moscow hospital.
