At the moment they can “test themselves” after ten days with a PCR test, in future this should be possible after five days, writes the “Presse” in its Saturday edition. However, the Ministry of Education is not responsible for the quarantine regulation.
In addition, according to Famann, not all students should be sent to quarantine in the future if a classmate tested positive. This is already not always the case, sometimes only the people sitting next to you or the rows in front of and behind have to stay at home. In each individual case, however, the health authority decides. As of the second case in a class, Famann believed that only the unvaccinated students would be quarantined, and that all children in primary schools would be treated as vaccinated.
First results of the “safety phase”
In Vienna, after the intensive testing of the “safety phase” at the start of school, more than 120 classes are now in quarantine.

Aside from the quarantine regulations, Famann has put recovered students and teachers on an equal footing with those who have been vaccinated in a recent amendment to the Covid-19 school ordinance. This saves you the obligation to test after the end of the three-week “security phase”. In the current security phase, recovered educators are also no longer required to carry out a weekly PCR test – three antigen tests are sufficient.
