According to an FDP evaluation, the number of top civil servants in the federal government has increased significantly in the current legislative period. Most of the new top positions are in the interior department.
According to an FDP evaluation, the number of posts for top civil servants in the federal government has risen by 16.3 percent in the past four years.
Specifically, 267.5 new jobs were created for which at least a basic salary of 8762 euros per month is currently paid. The evaluation was available to the German Press Agency on Saturday. First the “Bild” newspaper reported.
According to the evaluation, most of the new top positions were created in the Federal Ministry of the Interior by head of department Horst Seehofer (CSU). The FDP evaluation shows an increase of 48.6 percent or 54 positions. The number in Peter Altmaier’s (CDU) Ministry of Economic Affairs also rose significantly with 41 additional positions (26.1 percent).
In the Ministry of Health, 18 new positions (31.6 percent) were created for top civil servants, especially between 2019 and 2020 this was significantly increased. The Federal Ministry of Research and Science received 24 new top positions, which corresponds to an increase of 27.3 percent.
The federal budgets are the basis for the evaluation of the FDP parliamentary group. Positions in grades B3, B6, B9 and B11 were taken into account. The basic salaries for these groups in 2021 for federal civil servants will be between EUR 8,762.03 and EUR 14,808.25.
