In the ZDF magazine “Logo!” Two weeks before the federal election, politicians answered questions from child reporters. AfD boss Chrupalla made a mistake on one of his favorite topics.
When politicians are asked to answer questions spontaneously for which they are not prepared, it can quickly lead to embarrassed silence. Something like that happened to AfD chairman Tino Chrupalla. Only the question he was asked actually moved within terrain where one would have expected him to be more secure.
Because Chrupalla likes to demand that more German cultural assets are taught in schools in this country. But when asked by a ZDF children’s reporter about his favorite German poem, he had to pass. Visibly insecure, the 46-year-old replied: “My favorite poem is, uh, I have to, I would have to think about it now, I can’t think of any.” When asked by “Logo!” Reporter Alexander whether the AfD politician might have a favorite poet, Chrupalla replied “Heinrich Heine.”
He had previously emphasized that his party wanted more German folk songs and German poems to be taught again, and that German poets and thinkers would be honored more in schools. Thereupon Alexander said that he thought that a relatively large number of poems had to be memorized.

The top candidates of the other parties – from Armin Laschet (CDU) to Olaf Scholz (SPD), Annalena Baerbock (Greens), Christian Lindner (FDP), Markus Söder (CSU) to Janine Wissler (left) presented themselves shortly before the Bundestag election on September 26th in three to four minute interviews with the children’s reporters from “Logo!” And were not always sure about questions about youth language.
