The Leipzig Regional Court has admitted the charges against the musician Gil Ofarim for false suspicion and defamation and opened the main proceedings. A year ago, the musician made allegations of anti-Semitism against a Leipzig hotel in a viral video. According to the public prosecutor’s office in Leipzig, the incident did not happen that way. As the court announced on Wednesday, the trial against the artist is scheduled to begin on October 24th. The district court has scheduled seven days of hearings until the end of November for the proceedings. The presumption of innocence applies to Ofarim until the final conclusion of the proceedings. A statement from his lawyer was not immediately available.
