Right-wing extremists put up posters calling for the Greens to be hanged. All right, a court finds.
The right-wing extremist splinter party «III. According to a court order, Weg ”is allowed to continue to hang up the posters with the slogan“ Hang the Greens ”in Zwickau, but only at a distance from the posters of the Greens.
The administrative court in Chemnitz issued an urgent application from the “III. Away »instead, as it announced on Tuesday – but on the condition that the posters must have a distance of 100 meters to the posters of the Greens.
The city of Zwickau ordered last Wednesday that the party should remove its posters with the imprint “Hang the Greens” within three days. If that doesn’t happen, the municipality will remove the posters itself. The reason given was that the slogan was a violation of public order and human dignity.
The administrative court justified its decision by saying that, on the basis of the principles for election advertising established by the Federal Constitutional Court, it was unclear whether the conditions for an encroachment on freedom of expression were met. When weighing up interests, the Chamber therefore considered it appropriate to create a “detached perception” of the posters of the “III. Wegs ”and their“ communicative concerns not to be impaired ”.
The decision is not yet final. Both the splinter party «III. Weg »and the city of Zwickau could still take action, said a court spokesman on Tuesday. So far, however, no response has been received.
