The administrative court Chemnitz gave an urgent application of the III. The III. Weg pretends to target the party’s own green color with the controversial slogan on the poster. In smaller print it says on the motif: “Make our national revolutionary movement known in town and country through poster advertising in our party colors!”
Zwickau sees posters as a violation of human dignity
The city of Zwickau ordered last Wednesday that the party should remove its posters with the imprint “Hang the Greens” within three days. If that doesn’t happen, the municipality will remove the posters itself. The reason given was that the slogan was a violation of public order and human dignity.
The administrative court justified its decision by saying that, on the basis of the principles for election advertising established by the Federal Constitutional Court, it was unclear whether the conditions for an encroachment on freedom of expression were met. When weighing up interests, the Chamber therefore considered it appropriate not to impair a “detached perception” of the posters on “Path III” and their “communicative concerns” through the spatial separation.
The decision is not yet final. Both the splinter party “III. Way” and the city of Zwickau could still take action, a court spokesman said on Tuesday. So far, however, no response has been received.
