There was no doubt that he is aiming to replace the VP / FP coalition with a black-green collaboration, said Green State Councilor Stefan Kaineder on Tuesday. Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler came to Linz to provide support. He drew a comparison with federal politics: even if the ÖVP “sometimes rumbles”, the federal government is making environmental protection investments “like never before”. Kogler and Kaineder spoke of a “choice of direction and responsibility” on September 26th, expressing a negative assessment of the FPÖ’s policy.
With the corona vaccinations, the FPÖ is running a “campaign of uncertainty”, a “separate line of the state freedom”, Kogler doubted: “That he goes well with Herbert Kickl, says Manfred Haimbuchner himself.” In terms of climate policy, Upper Austria’s chances are “enormous” – with “green pacesetters”, said Kogler. Kaineder regards the fact that the ÖVP is increasingly addressing “blue” issues as “populist banter before the election”.
